Which workflow fits?
This comparison covers OpenCode at opencode.ai. Compare the configured workflows: AX Code offers execution records, a persistent code graph, AX Wiki and isolated Arena candidates; OpenCode documents Plan/Build agents, project rules, skills, LSP servers and integrations. Neither feature list establishes which tool will produce a better patch.
| Consideration | AX Code | OpenCode |
|---|---|---|
| Language-server feedback | LSP diagnostics and symbol operations complement the persistent code graph. Feedback can help an agent find errors; run project checks to establish correctness. | Configured LSP servers provide diagnostics to the model. Language-server availability depends on the project and setup. |
| Repository context | AX Wiki builds and updates a source-backed Markdown knowledge base. Use the code graph and LSP for exact symbol relationships. | The /init command can generate AGENTS.md; project rules, skills and tools provide additional context. Assess extensions separately. |
| Verification | Arena implement mode evaluates candidate changes in isolated Git worktrees against configured repository checks. Review the evidence before merging. | Plan and Build agents support planning and implementation. Configure permissions and run the relevant checks for the task. |
| Recovery and review | Inspect recorded sessions, compare attempts and use retained snapshots for file recovery. External side effects are outside snapshot recovery. | Documented /undo and /redo commands use Git to manage file changes. Review their scope for your workflow. |
| Model connections | Coding CLI adapters, cloud APIs, local runtimes and private GPU endpoints. Local performance depends on the model, hardware and workload. | Documented provider connections include hosted services, local runtimes and custom endpoints. Check model and tool compatibility. |
Include WebMCP in your comparison
With the experimental WebMCP bridge, AX Code can read pages, call tools a website exposes and interact with its interface. It starts disabled and opens an isolated Chrome window when you enable it.
Check whether each coding agent can discover and call page-registered WebMCP tools, how it handles browser profiles and approvals, and which setup it requires. Evaluate the same website and task. MCP server connections and general browser automation alone do not establish WebMCP support; check each product’s current documentation.
What to evaluate with AX Code
Open AX Code in your repository and use /connect to choose a supported local runtime, cloud API, coding CLI or private GPU endpoint. Choose your sandbox and permission settings before granting access to unfamiliar code. Ordinary sessions do not automatically enforce your project’s test suite. Run the repository’s checks and inspect the diff. Use the session graph to see recorded steps and tool calls. A recorded check failure remains a failure; the agent’s completion message is not proof that a patch is correct.
AX Code Business is planned. The website’s illustrative speed display is not a benchmark against OpenCode.
Docs ↗Does AX Code support live LSP compiler diagnostics like OpenCode?
Yes. AX Code provides LSP diagnostics and symbol operations alongside its persistent code graph. Diagnostic feedback helps identify problems but does not guarantee a correct fix or replace tests. OpenCode also documents LSP diagnostic feedback; compare both on the languages and checks your project uses.
Try a representative task
Give both tools a refactoring task that triggers compiler type mismatches across multiple files. Observe how each agent receives compiler diagnostic feedback, whether it understands the transitive blast radius, and how it handles architectural conventions and verification.
