Which workflow fits?
Copilot includes agent and CLI capabilities as well as code review, so it should not be evaluated only as an autocomplete tool. Compare the specific surface you will use with AX Code’s terminal workflow.
| Consideration | AX Code | GitHub Copilot |
|---|---|---|
| Working environment | Terminal sessions in your repository, alongside existing development tools. | GitHub workflows, supported editors and Copilot CLI. |
| Model options | Connect supported coding CLIs, cloud APIs, local runtimes or private GPU endpoints. | Model availability varies by plan and product surface; check the current model documentation. |
| Review workflow | Inspect execution records and proposed file changes before committing. | Copilot code review and agent workflows integrate with GitHub development. |
Include WebMCP in your comparison
With the experimental WebMCP bridge, AX Code can read pages, call tools a website exposes and interact with its interface. It starts disabled and opens an isolated Chrome window when you enable it.
Check whether each coding agent can discover and call page-registered WebMCP tools, how it handles browser profiles and approvals, and which setup it requires. Evaluate the same website and task. MCP server connections and general browser automation alone do not establish WebMCP support; check each product’s current documentation.
What to evaluate with AX Code
Open AX Code in your repository and use /connect to choose a supported local runtime, cloud API, coding CLI or private GPU endpoint. Choose your sandbox and permission settings before granting access to unfamiliar code. Ordinary sessions do not automatically enforce your project’s test suite. Run the repository’s checks and inspect the diff. Use the session graph to see recorded steps and tool calls. A recorded check failure remains a failure; the agent’s completion message is not proof that a patch is correct.
AX Code Business is planned. The website’s illustrative speed display is not a benchmark against GitHub Copilot.
Docs ↗Can I use AX Code with a repository hosted on GitHub?
Yes. Work in your local checkout, inspect the diff and use your existing Git workflow to submit changes. AX Code does not require moving your repository to another hosting service.
Try a representative task
Compare a local maintenance task and your normal pull-request review. Decide whether you need terminal session evidence, integrated GitHub review, or both. Validate model availability in the exact Copilot surface you plan to use.
