AX Code vs Hermes Agent

Consider AX Code for repository changes you need to inspect, compare and recover. Consider Hermes Agent for a broader assistant workflow centered on reusable skills, memory and connections across communication channels.

Which workflow fits?

Both are agent runtimes. Hermes documents persistent memory, skill creation and reuse, messaging integrations and multiple execution backends. AX Code emphasizes the evidence surrounding a coding change.

Include WebMCP in your comparison

With the experimental WebMCP bridge, AX Code can read pages, call tools a website exposes and interact with its interface. It starts disabled and opens an isolated Chrome window when you enable it.

Check whether each coding agent can discover and call page-registered WebMCP tools, how it handles browser profiles and approvals, and which setup it requires. Evaluate the same website and task. MCP server connections and general browser automation alone do not establish WebMCP support; check each product’s current documentation.

What to evaluate with AX Code

Open AX Code in your repository and use /connect to choose a supported local runtime, cloud API, coding CLI or private GPU endpoint. Choose your sandbox and permission settings before granting access to unfamiliar code. Ordinary sessions do not automatically enforce your project’s test suite. Run the repository’s checks and inspect the diff. Use the session graph to see recorded steps and tool calls. A recorded check failure remains a failure; the agent’s completion message is not proof that a patch is correct.

AX Code Business is planned. The website’s illustrative speed display is not a benchmark against Hermes Agent.

Does having skills make the harnesses equivalent?

No. Skills supply instructions and resources. The runtime still controls tool execution, state, permissions and recovery. Evaluate the behavior of the complete configured system.

Try a representative task

Try a coding change and a recurring assistant task separately. Check whether you can explain a run afterward, recover unwanted changes and reuse the workflow. Compare the actual setup rather than assuming either product lacks a feature.
